Iowa was a hot political battleground this year as presidential candidates trekked across the state to drum up support ahead of the caucuses next month. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has visited all ninety-nine counties, making the state a priority from the get-go, and remains in second place behind former President Donald Trump. However, just a few months ago, the focus on the Hawkeye state was much broader, with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND) still vying for the nomination. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) joined back in August to discuss the state of the race early on.
