In rugby union: HSBC SVNS Cape Town pools – Women:Pool A: Australia, Fiji, Japan, SpainPool B: New Zealand, Ireland, Brazil, Great BritainPool C: France, Canada, USA, South AfricaAnd the HSBC SVNS Cape Town pools – Men:Pool A: South Africa, Ireland, USA, Great BritainPool B: Argentina, Fiji, France, SpainPool C: New Zealand, Samoa, Australia, CanadaIn rugby league: The Titans Tongan powerhouse, David Fifita will undergo surgery after suffering a pectoral muscle tear. The club confirmed in a statement yesterday that the 23-year-old back-rower sustained a partial tear during pre-season training. The Maroons ORIGIN star will aim to return for the start of the 2024 season after completing his rehab over the coming weeks.Former Tonga co-captain Sio Siua Taukeiaho is back in training with Catalans Dragons following the collapse of a move back to the NRL due to a failed medical. As early as August, Catalans confirmed he would be granted an early release to make his return Down Under to the Canterbury Bulldogs all but signed and sealed. That was until he failed his medical, with 9News reporting last month that the veteran has a foot injury which requires surgery, leaving the Bulldogs looking elsewhere in terms of recruitment. In Football: The Premier League has completed a US$8.5Billion set of domestic media rights agreements that reasserts its presence as one of the world’s most dominant sports properties. In four-year pacts starting with the 2025-26 season, Sky Sports and TNT will broadcast up to 270 live games per season, each retaining their status with the league, while the BBC will continue to broadcast a free-to-air highlights package. The highly anticipated agreements, the largest sports media rights deal ever in the UK are nearly double the recently struck domestic media rights deals in Italy for Serie A. In combat sports: Melvin Townsend, the man who made the news last year after Mike Tyson was filmed punching him while on board a JetBlue flight that was preparing to take off for Florida from San Francisco, wants Tyson to pay him US$450,000 to cater for his legal bills and future treatment for the injuries he reportedly suffered from the attack, including concussion, cervical radiculopathy and impaired vision according to TMZ.Mr. Townsend’s lawyer said, “Being irritated by a fan is not a legal defense for Tyson.”Sorry, but that just does not make sense. In SportsBiz: Beginning in 2028, amateur golfers will have to start using balls that, on average, cover 5% less distance than today’s balls. That would mean a 250-yard drive would now go about 238 yards. Professionals will start using these balls in 2026.In 2022, the global golf ball market was valued at US$1Billion, according to a report from the research guide Market.US, and it is anticipated to reach $1.35 billion by 2032.So the new balls fly less, you hit them more and they wear out quicker . . so you buy new balls – “kaching.”And that’s a wrap! For TeivovoSports.com I’m Culden Kamea – please hit the like and subscribe buttons below if you want to receive more Pasifika sports highlights on Breakfast Bites.Mahalo, Kakite and tank you all too mas for all your love and support.#TEIVOVORugby #TEIVOVODigital #TeivovoRugby #TeivovoDigital #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #Raka #team #rugbytraining #sports #FRU #Fiji #womensrugby #rugbygirls #wrugby #ladiesrugby #womeninsport #woman #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #fitness #weightlifting #training #team #rugbytraining #sports #rakavi #DevelopmentFiji
