The New York Yankees have many options in free agency if they choose wisely. Stacey and Steve go through a list of 11 Top Free Agents they think will help the Yankees. The Yankees can’t sign all 11, obviously, but even two or three could improve the team a lot in 2024. First, they go through the positions where the Yankees need help, and then they discuss the options. They open with the offensive options, including Cody Bellinger and Kevin Kiermaier, and they include a dark-horse candidate for the offense and outfielder. Then, Stacey and Steve explore pitching options—both starters and relievers. They are the obvious choices, like Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell, but what about the bullpen choices? There are a few guys who could really turn the already potent Yankees’ bullpen into a legitimately scary group. Then, Stacey and Steve celebrate Anthony Volpe’s Gold Glove win! Volpe became the first Yankees rookie to accomplish the feat and only the second shortstop. The other? That dude named Derek Jeter. And finally, Carlos Mendoza, the now former bench coach for the Yankees, has been hired by the New York Mets as manager.
