The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-2 on Wednesday night to salvage one game of the three-game set. Before the game, we got news of Domingo Germán entering inpatient treatment for alcohol abuse, and we discussed the announcement made by the Yankees and wished him well. Then we talk about the ace of the staff Gerrit Cole and his performance against the Rays. The offense also broke out in a good way, with Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton leading the way, and the defense was solid too. It was an all-around good game for the Yankees and something to build on, with Houston coming in for four games. We discuss the Yankees’ future now that the dust has cleared after the quiet trade deadline. We talk about the lineups and the rotation and what the Yankees should try to do with Luis Severino if his next start follows a familiar pattern. And then, we preview the first game of the Astros’ series between Cristian Javier and Clarke Schmidt.
