Description
EPISODE 144 - Clark is joined again by guest host Chris Begg (former WBC and Olympic pitcher for Team Canada) who is now the co-host of The Oppotaco Podcast along with Jason Willow where they talk all things baseball, while bringing their expertise to the conversation (sometimes with special guests including current and former big leaguers.)
The guys start the show by discussing the other unicorn MVP candidate (not named Shohei Ohtani) with Ronald Acuna Jr., on pace to be in the very exclusive 40 home run - 75 stolen base club. They chat about whether his rookie cards are worth investing in now and Chris also shares a story about playing against Acuna's father and how he wished he asked Acuna Jr. for his autograph as a toddler.
Then Chris shares what's upcoming for The Oppotaco Podcast (another fivecardguys production) and why baseball prospects or parents of said prospects (as well as baseball fans in general) might enjoy this pod. A special episode of The Oppotaco Podcast will air on Cards To The Moon on Tuesday, July 11.
The guys then get back to talking baseball and sports cards as they give their list of players who have surprised them with their performance at the All-Star break – both good and bad (ie. Corbin Carroll's delightful season vs. Trea Turner's disappointing season.)
Finally, just for fun, Clark quizzes Chris, who is more of a low-end raw card collector, on recent high-end graded card sales to see how close he can get to the actual sold price.
