A new oral cholesterol medication (PCKS9 inhibitor) from Merck looks very promising, and there is a buzz around a new strategy for Afib ablation. However, the biggest ripple was caused by an outcomes study of a non-statin medication called bempedoic acid or Nexletol in patients who are unable to take statins. This study is a great victory for providing more tools in the toolbox of advanced heart care.
