Barry Rellaford (https://www.linkedin.com/in/barry-rellaford-99b2951/) has a gift of engaging leaders and teams in an understandable, engaging, and actionable way. He has worked with leaders and teams from over 120 countries. Barry’s clients include InfoTrax, Tulsa Tech, Stratford Schools, Kroger, Procter & Gamble, Verizon, and Pfizer Consumer Health. His vocation of awakening people to purposeful work began in his youth in Paradise, California. From high school (where he engaged the student body as varsity mascot), through his undergraduate degree in Human Resource Development at Brigham Young University, and on to a master’s degree from Ohio State’s business school, Barry continues to engage and enlighten everyone he encounters. Barry is the founder of The Strength of 10, a consultancy focused on inspiring individuals and organizations to perform meaningful and sustainable work. He was a co-founder and master facilitator in FranklinCovey’s Speed of Trust practice and co-authored the business parable, A Slice of Trust (Gibbs Smith). Additionally, Barry is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and facilitator of 3 Vital Questions. He serves on the boards of the BYU Management Society and the LDS Publishing & Media Association. One of his favorite work roles now is as an adjunct professor of ethics in the Marriott School of Business at BYU. Before co-founding the Speed of Trust Practice, Barry led FranklinCovey’s Learning Expedition Center, the company’s internal corporate university. He also served as the Vice President of Organizational Development for Metatec International and as a performance consultant at CompuServe Inc. Barry and his wife, Lorilee, live in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains with their family. Barry's interests outside of work include family activities, music, reading, inspirational writing, and people development.

S2E3 - COVID-19 Accelerating the Shift to a New Normal in the Workplace and the Future of Work: Although technological advances are sometimes viewed with fear, specifically that technology will replace jobs, technology has created new types of work that were formerly not even imagined. As we have seen with the response to COVID-19 in terms of rapid technological innovation and adoption to facilitate working from home, technology can enable “global, flexible and independent work” and in particular, in the Global South. However, the impact of technological changes may be uneven displacing some individuals while creating jobs for others. The future of work in the Global South is closely tied to technological innovation, but as these innovations evolve, attention must be paid to policies that protect workers and provide for education and training to help these workers develop the needed skills. The three areas discussed are based on research studies specific to the Global South, examining by Human Capital Innovations (HCI) Podcast, with Jonathan H. Westover, PhD
