Alabama’s basketball program is once again in the news for an issue surrounding run-ins with police. This time around it was incoming Wichita State transfer Jaykwon Walton, who was arrested for marijuana possession over the weekend in Tuscaloosa. Head coach Nate Oats quickly and firmly stated that the program was no longer recruiting the Shocker’s leading scorer from last season. It’s a step in the right direction of transparency and handling situations better.
 
The NBA Early Entry deadline has come and gone. As usual, multiple players were last-minute adds, but one of the most intriguing was Emoni Bates, who just finished his sophomore year while playing at Eastern Michigan. What will be Bates’ fate? We wait to find out?
 
The new NBA CBA does not include an update on the so-called “one-and-done” rule. Under the new CBA players will still have to be 19 and a year removed before being eligible for the draft. This CBA will be seven years (with a potential reduction to six), so for the next several cycles we will still have elite, top end talent in the college ranks for at least a season.
