Description
Dr. Tanya Cotler is a child and adult clinical psychologist, author and speaker who specializes in reproductive mental health, infant mental health and parent-child attachment and attachment trauma. Her work and approach also acknowledge that every relationship is messy and that repairing ‘mismatches’ (as opposed to avoiding them completely) is central to building safety and trust. To some extent, we will all project our own traumas onto our children - it’s how we react and repair that matters! If you find yourself battling with your child or feeling overwhelmed with emotions, this episode is for you.
Dr. Cotler Shares:
1. As a parent, what is the first step to figuring out if you’re projecting your own trauma onto your child?
2. How did you become so passionate with “Intergenerational trauma + cycle breaking?
3. How is trauma is carried forward through generations (our body carries what our mind cannot)
4. How to get your partner on the same page
5. How to start the work- what’s one question you can ask yourself?
6. How to break cycles —heal and raise ourselves as we raise our children
7. How to find self compassion, and repair mismatches/ruptures in parenting as we walk the path of cycle breaking (What is one thing you can keep saying to your kids to promote a secure bond)
