Description
Jacob deGrom can strike out the world, but can he stay healthy enough to do it? After 3 perfect innings and 8 Ks, deGrom left the game again yet again with injury. This time it was right shoulder soreness, but so far this year he's had carousel of aggravations and irritations. From back stiffness and right lat soreness to right side tightness and right flexor tendinitis it seems like with every new start comes another discomfort for deGrom.
How worried should we be? That's anyone's guess including the doctors. deGrom has had more MRIs this season than earned runs allowed, but with each new test there's no conclusive evidence to point to injury. The guys debate whether he should shut himself down for the next few starts to make sure his body is right or if he should push through on what has been a historic season so far.
It's a tough call, but not so tough when your team has the largest divisional lead in baseball. Would we love to have Jake out there throwing every fifth day, pushing his era into the low 0.40s? Of course, but do we need him to win ballgames when we have ace caliber starts from Taijuan Walker and Marcus Stroman in the meantime? Probably not.
Thus the question remains: Is our starter hurt or injured? Should he push it or pullback for the much more important stretch down the line? KFC and Clem present their cases
We also talk about the illars MVP quality play, the bench mob being the backbone of the team and when we can expect to get our starters back this month. The guys talk trade deadline, crybaby Cole and much more.
We don't want to get too ahead of ourselves since we're still in the thick of things in June, but with two statement series wins against the Padres and Cubs we gotta believe that this team is setting themselves up for something special this season. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube.
