Description

We were lucky to avoid a mutiny when George found out that hockey-masked slasher Jason was neither masked nor slashing in the original Friday the 13th. We promised him that we would make it up to him by provided the exact lumbering and hockey-masked Jason (which he was promised by Freddy vs Jason) in Friday the 13th Part 2. We lied. But how will he take it?

Will George (once again) be disappointed at the lack of hockey-masked slashers? How will Travis cope with the revelations within regarding The Town that Dreaded Sundown? Why is Dan really so hung up on the jurisdictional issues surrounding the police of Crystal Lake?

This episode contains a standard-length episode with an additional second half containing analysis and evaluation of two films: The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976) and A Bay of Blood (1971). Both films are significant influences on Friday the 13th Part 2. As it stands, you can listen to the episode without once pausing or referencing the movies discussed. But, as you will hear, the effects on first-time-viewers George and Travis are substantial.

During the episode Dan announces the time stamps for Town, if you would like to pause the show and watch the clips you should do so! The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976) is available at time of publishing on Amazon Prime (or on Blu-Ray). A Bay of Blood can be found on YouTube and is also available on Blu-Ray. We have condensed our live viewings for time (and for listenability) but you are encouraged to use the maps below to watch the clips before George and Travis.

Poor George. He's never seen any movies. Rather than mourn their dear friend, Travis and Dan have taken it upon themselves to show him what he is missing. But they don't stop at showing him famous movies! They also help George to understand how each film fits into the Great Narrative of Film. Not only THAT the film of the week is significant, but WHY and HOW. Also, they make jokes and stuff.
