The future is bright for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
After following up his Super Bowl campaign in 2021 with a return to the AFC Championship this past season, Burrow not only remained mostly consistent, but even showed signs of growth. Despite a shaky start to the first half of the season, Burrow led the Bengals on a 10-game win streak en route to their first back-to-back conference title game appearance in team history.
That 10-game win streak propelled Burrow into the MVP conversation alongside the likes of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Bills quarterback Josh Allen. He beat both quarterbacks this season up until Mahomes avenged him later at Arrowhead Stadium.
On top of returning the Bengals to a formidable status amongst the NFL’s best, Burrow showed why he’s worthy of being one of the highest paid players in the league. Much of the focus of the Bengals’ offseason will revolve around what a potential extension would Burrow for look like along with other big decisions in free agency that will shape his extension.
The Strictly Stripes Crew looks at how Burrow grew at his position last season even as the Bengals had a shaky 0-2 start to open the season before going 5-4 at the bye week. Looking at Burrow’s strengths, they also look at where Burrow could improve heading into next year if he wants to beat out Mahomes and/or Allen for the right to be named MVP amongst other lofty honors.
