Description
Two worlds will collide in Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, considered the greatest at this position, will duel off against Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Although Burrow has a long way to go before catching up to Brady's legendary accolades, Burrow seems poised to be on a successful trajectory.
Sunday's matchup between the two would be the first and maybe even the only time they'll cross paths. The stakes couldn't be higher for either player: Burrow is hoping to give the Bengals their sixth straight win as they remain competitive for the AFC North title, and Brady is keeping his 6-7 Bucs afloat in what has been an inconsistent season.
Burrow might have to figure out how to outduel the future Hall of Famer without some of his most trusted weapons. Wide receivers Tee Higgins (hamstring) and Tyler Boyd (finger) were both limited in practice Wednesday. The Buccaneers' defense has also been hampered by injuries though and could be without top players like Vita Vea, Jamel Dean and Mike Edwards.
Which quarterback will outduel the other? Does Burrow put on a show that keeps the MVP conversation a three-way race between him, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts?
After sustaining recent success at the run game, the Bengals may have just figured out what they want from running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon. Do their roles fluctuate moving forward?
The Strictly Stripes crew assess what a Burrow vs. Brady matchup would look like as they also weight injuries on Cincinnati's offense against Tampa Bay's defense. They also do a quick breakdown of where the MVP race currently stands.
This podcast features Mohammad Ahmad and Andrew Gillis.
