Description

2022 was a season of ups and downs for the Texas Longhorns, which led to marginal improvement and an 8-5 season. At times we saw really impressive efforts like the Alabama and Oklahoma games. Other times there were the letdowns we've become accustomed to for past decade, in games like Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. From an individual perspective we saw more of the same. Quinn Ewers had games last year that more than validated his perfect 247 composite rating coming out of high school. In other games he made mistakes and throws that were characteristic of somebody who had not played football in two years. Xavier Worthy was expected to have a Biletnikoff type season and instead regressed in every statistical category. The defense had dominant efforts against Alabama, Oklahoma and TCU, only allowing 37 points in those three games, but gave up 37 and 41 points to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State respectively. If 2023 is Big 12 Championship or Bust for Steve Sarkisian (It is), then the Longhorns can't afford to have a season of ups and downs. It has to be a season of mostly ups. Jonathan Davis of Locked on Longhorns joins Josh Neighbors of  @LockedOnBig12  for our first discussion of what this Texas Longhorns football team needs to do to finally get over the hump in 2023. With Arch Manning coming on campus in 2023, what does this mean for Quinn Ewers and Maalik Murphy at the Quarterback position? With Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson both declaring for the draft, how will the running game look next year? Can the defense look more like the 2022 defense than the 2021 defense next year with players like Jaylan Ford and Jahdae Barron returning? This all remains to be seen. Hook Em
