Preseason, the Big Ten projected to once again have a multitude of solid, if not elite, basketball teams. To wit, 11 of the 14 are current top 50 KenPom teams. However, in the first month of the season, multiple teams have risen to join Indiana as Big Ten frontrunners. BUT, are the likes of Purdue, Indiana, or Illinois complete enough to be national championship good? We’ll find out.
Entering the college basketball season, there was an accepted “Big 5 bigs” – Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky), Drew Timme (Gonzaga), Armando Bacot (UNC), Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana), and Hunter Dickinson (Michigan). Now that we’re into the season – who are the Big 5 outside of the Big 5? Candidates include National Player of the Year front-runner Zach Edey (Purdue), Adama Sanogo (UConn), Oumar Ballo (Arizona), Colin Castleton (Florida), Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton), and others!
