Description

Episode transcript available here.[Please note that we talk about suicide in this episode so we hope you to tend to your needs with kindness.] Meet the hosts and producers of our weekly show in today's episode. Saba, Micaela, Sabrina and Ari talk about what brought them into podcasting and share a few of their favorite podcasts. Then they are joined in the studio by activist and student Marium Nur Vahed. Marium shares with us her experiences in politics and more recently her mental health advocacy work on campus. How Many Lives is a student led movement working to destigmatize failure and raise awareness about the mental health crisis on campus. Marium is also the president of the Diaspora and Transnational Studies Union, where she is working to create more inclusive spaces on campus. The group discusses the difficulty in navigating burnout, how we can work towards better representation,  and how to challenge institutional frameworks to create safe and inclusive spaces on campus. Follow How Many Lives on Facebook and their website. The Diaspora and Transnational Studies Union is @dtsu_uoft on Twitter and Instagram. The Dish with One Spoon audio piece played at the break is  Ryan DeCaire speaking Kanienʼkéha (Mohawk) language. And the CiUT station ID is  Brenda Wastasecoot speaking Cree. These were recorded with Jenny Blackbird from the CKQ Indigenous Language Initiative. To find out more, follow @ckq_uoft on Twitter and Instagram.
