Description

Highlights:How do you overcome cultural norms that expect you to stay silent? Like many of us, Yon faced this question growing up amid two different cultures: one where you don’t share your opinion unless you’re asked to and another where speaking up and sharing your ideas is highly valued. Yon constantly challenged herself to speak up while balancing cultural peace. When trying to influence others, one of the best things to do is to put your ego aside and focus more on the message you’re providing to the group. Wondering about what others think of you and how you’re coming across takes away from the actual message you’re trying to send.If Yon could speak to her younger self, she would tell her to not second guess herself. You can begin to accomplish this by being aware of your personal values and feeling connected and grounded to these values. When you trust yourself, you’ll always make the right decision.About Yon:Yon Na, Ph.D. is a researcher, consultant, and professor.
