Description

Meet Lindsay Malen, Director of Business Development, Future Care Inc. a young woman who entered the maritime industry as a first response call line operator, engaging with Captains and Chief Engineers, who needed telemedical advice and got to understand the industry that she knew nothing about, and is now the business develop director of the same company. Lindsay explains how the new  Maritime, Labour Convention of 2006, MLC, require Shipowners to have a telemedical advice service onboard their ships. She says that they have seen it all, but right now they are seeing a lot more cardiac issues on board, probably as a consequence of the crew shortage right now, Shipowners tend to try and do their best to retain their crew, which may lead them to have older Captains, for example.  Listening to Lindsay is fascinating, it might be a niche part of the shipping industry, but it's definitely a forward thinking young woman you will get to know. Please tell everyone you meet, that there is a Shipping Podcast and that they can download it to their mobile or listen in front of the screen via the website www.shippingpodcast.com and that I love feedback!
