Description

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English terms IN ONE SHOT and IT'S SHOT!In this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase in one shot. When you do something in one shot, it means you are successful the first time you attempt to do it. Believe it or not, these short English lessons, I usually do them in one shot. Sometimes I fail. Sometimes I say something wrong or I mess up and I start again. But usually, I make the video in one shot. That means I hit record and I talk for a full four minutes without stopping. Usually I do it in one shot. One time I found a phone in my classroom and I thought to myself, I should try and unlock this phone to see who it belongs to. And so, I guessed the password in one shot. I punched in one, two, three, four and that was the person's password and the phone was unlocked. I got it in one shot.WANT FREE ENGLISH LESSONS? When you say something is shot, it means it's broken. It's completely useless. This is my old phone. It's shot. It doesn't even turn on anymore. In fact, the screen, only half the screen worked for a bit and then it just stopped working, it's shot. So when you say something is shot, it means it's completely broken. Our last van, not one of the two I have right now, we eventually got rid of because it was shot. It just didn't start anymore. It was really starting to rust. It was shot.So to review, when you do something in one shot, it means you do it the first time you try it, you succeed the first time you try it. I think right now, I'm probably gonna be able to finish this video in one shot. Everything seems to be going really good. And when you say something is shot, when you say ah, it's shot, hey, do you wanna buy my car? I'm not buying your car. It's shot. That simply means it's no good anymore. It doesn't really work and it's not useful to anyone. It's shot. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from Noriko. It's a bit of a long one, here we go. "Hi, I'm always wondering "when you usually upload a new video. "I mean, the time when you upload "is sometimes in the middle of the night there in Canada. "Do you set a timer to upload a video automatically "or wake up before the crack of dawn? "I'm not tech savvy, so this question might be dumb. "Anyways, thanks."And my response, "Yes, that is correct. "I upload the video the day before "and I set it to go live at around 3:00 a.m. my time. "This gives me a bit of a buffer "in case I think of something I need to change. "It's also the time of day "when most English learners around the world watch videos. So I don't, Noriko, get up at the crack of dawn. Thanks for that comment, by the way. I don't get up at the crack of dawn. I am able to upload the video the day before. On YouTube, I can set it to go live at a certain time. And when I looked at when most people around the world are learning English, it's usually between 3:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. That seems to be the most popular time. Sorry, I got, I think I just walked through a spider web. That seems to be the most popular time to watch videos to learn English. Which makes sense. Most of North America is awake at a different time than the rest of the world and most people in North America already speak English, so they don't need to really learn.Support the show
