Description

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases TO POINT OUT and SHORT AND TO THE POINTIn this English lesson, I wanted to help you learn the English phrase to point out. Now, when you point something out, it can mean that you're using your finger. Like I could point out that the sky is really beautiful today. I could point out that the grass behind me is quite green. I could actually point, but when you point something out, it doesn't actually require that you use your finger. If you are in a meeting, wow, there's a lot of lawnmowers driving around right now. I'd like to point out that there are a lot of lawnmowers driving out right now. When you use it in that way, it simply means that you are mentioning something.WANT FREE ENGLISH LESSONS? Sorry, I don't actually raise my finger like this. I could just say, I'd like to point out that we already talked about this last year, or we already did that last year. So to point out can simply mean to mention something. The other phrase I wanted to mention today, and help you learn is the phrase short and to the point. When you talk in front of a whole bunch of people, oh, I'd like to point out that the lawnmowers have stopped making noise. Wait, I hear another one going now. Anyways, when you are short and to the point, it means that you're talking, and you're going to, it's usually not this loud when I make my videos, you're talking, and you're going to talk for a short amount of time, and you're gonna talk about the subject at hand. You're not going to talk about other things that aren't important. You're gonna keep it short and to the point. When I go somewhere and someone is talking up front, it's nice when they keep it short and to the point. That way, no one in the audience gets bored. So to review, when you point something out, it means you mention it. I'd like to point out that normally I make videos when it's very quiet outside. I'm not even sure if you can hear the lawn mowers, but usually that's how I make videos, when it's quiet. And I usually keep these videos short and to the point. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but I do not stray from the topic very much, and I usually only talk for about four minutes. But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. This comment is from Hasib. "Why do you always keep your hair short, Bob? Is there any reason behind it?" And my response, "A long time ago, I had a motorcycle, and I had longer hair. When I took my helmet off, my hair looked funny. I had helmet head. So I started to cut it short. I liked it so much, I've just kept doing it."So I have mentioned that before, actually in the past, people have asked or I've voluntarily talked about my hair, but yes, I just like it short, it's much cooler to have short hair, like actually cooler. I guess it's kind of cool and hip as well, but I meant like in the summer when it's hot, it's much cooler to have short hair. So I've just always kept it that way. And I really, really do enjoy it.Hey, I've mentioned this a few times, but I'll mention it again. I'm finding it hard to keep my thoughts in order, because it's August 16th today, school is starting soon. I feel like every day, I'm making a list. I talked about lists before in one of my members only videos about how much I like lists. I find that my life isn't too busy as long as I stay on top of things. And one of the ways to stay on top of things, of course, is to make a nice little list. So I've been making quite a few lists lately,Support the show
