Description

Read along to practice your English and to learn the English phrases IT DRIVES ME NUTS and TURN OVER A NEW LEAF:In this English lesson I wanted to help you learn the English phrase it's driving me nuts. You may have heard the phrase it's driving me crazy, or it's driving me up the wall. We sometimes also say it's driving me nuts. It means that you don't like something or it's bothering you. I've been doing these phrases on a piece of paper for a very long time. And I know that for some of you, you don't like it that I waste a piece of paper every day to make this English lesson. And you might be saying to yourself, "It's driving me nuts! Bob keeps wasting a piece of paper every day just to make this English lesson." So I thought maybe I should try something new. I haven't quite decided what to do yet. Sorry, there's something just landed on me. I haven't decided what to do yet, but I think maybe since it's driving so many people nuts, maybe I should do something a little bit different next time.Maybe I should turn over a new leaf. In English, when we say that we are going to turn over a new leaf, it means that we're going to start doing something differently. Sorry, I think I just, just have a hair here. Let me see if I can find it. Do you ever have that, where, I don't know, I live with a lot of people, sometimes there's just a hair on me for some reason. Let me keep going though. Maybe it's time for me to turn over a new leaf. Maybe it's time for me to find a different way to do this. In the comments, someone suggested I just put the phrase up in the corner now. I used to do it on paper because I used to do the videos vertically, but maybe it's time to turn over a new leaf and do it a little bit differently. So once again, when you say it's driving me nuts, you're talking about something that's bothering you or something that you don't like. Drives me nuts when people throw garbage in the ditch behind me, by the way. And then when you decide to turn over a new leaf, it means you're going to change your ways. It means you're going to start doing things in a better way, or you're going to start doing something where it's just gonna be better for everybody. So we'll see, maybe I'll turn over a new leaf and stop using paper. We'll see.I actually use two pieces of paper every day 'cause I print out the comment, too. I'll have to find a new way to do that as well probably. Let's look at a comment, though. This comment is from Roman L.N. and Roman says, "Hi, Bob. The first step is the hardest. Thanks for the lesson." And my response was, "That is very true. Sometimes if you take the first step, you'll be on your way." So thanks, Roman, for that comment from yesterday's video, it's very true. When you are trying to change how you do something in life, when you're trying to become a better person or when you're trying to learn something new, sometimes the first step is the hardest, but you just need to take that first step, and then usually everything goes a lot better. So anyways, we'll see, maybe going forward, maybe I'll take that first step towards not using paper every day. You know, the other reason I use paper though, is it makes it easy. I can't remember which two phrases I want to teach each day, so bringing a piece of paper out helps me quite a bit. I don't know why you would think I'd be able to remember two phrases really, really easily, but sometimes I can't.So, hey, anyways, I hope you're doing well wherever you are. I'm excited because there is no COVID in my school yet. We're having beautiful weather here in Ontario, Canada. I'm outside in a short sleeve shirt and I'm just, I'm enjoying the weather. I'm enjoying the day. By the way, tomorrow I'm doing a lesson on fall or as we sometimes say, autumn, there'll be a live lesson.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/bobthecanadian)
