Description
In this episode, we continue our discussions with filmmakers participating in the Swiss documentary film festival, Visions du Reel, with the film Off the Road, by José Permar. Off the Road is a Western, Musical, Documentary film that follows locals in a small remote town in Baja California, Mexico leading up to the Baja 1000 - the world's biggest off-road motorsport race that passes through every year and animates this small village.Permar was born in South Baja California, Mexico. He studied Audiovisual Arts at the University of Guadalajara and won an Ariel, the national film prize for his short documentary Aurelia y Pedro (2016), which was also nominated for a Student Oscar Academy Award and received a special mention at the Berlinale. Also joining the conversation is Daniela Silva, who is on of the producer of Off the Road.Alexandra Yakovleva, a visual artist, facilitates the discussion.Since streaming of Off the Road is limited, the director has kindly offered to make his short film, Aurelia y Pedro, available on Docs in Orbit to coincide with this episode.
