Today we were joined by the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Mark Uyl. Last Thursday, Mark and his team announced that Fall sports are now back in play – including football, girls swimming and diving, and boys soccer. At this point in time there are some guidelines saying that masks/face coverings will need to be worn while playing; with the exception of swimming. Huge asked Mark questions from parents and coaches regarding return to play. Mark had a lot to say about the mask situation. We were then joined by Chris Balas to get his thoughts about the B10 coming back - and the likelihood of that happening from his perspective. This and more in our first hour.
To kick off the second hour, we were joined by our friend Mike O’Hara as our Detroit Lions made some great moves over the weekend picking up Adrian Peterson. The Lions first game of the season against the Bears is also on Sunday of this week – so we wanted to take a look at how everything went at training camp and to talk about what the most exciting part of the NFL coming back is. We then spoke with Jim Comparoni to get a parent and coach perspective about high school sports coming back. We also got the thoughts of Jim on kids having to wear a mask while they play.
In our final hour we replayed the conversation with Mark Uyl regarding the return of fall sports – like football, girls swimming and diving, and boy’s soccer. We were then joined by Dr. K from Metro Health to get his thoughts on young athletes having to wear a mask while they play their respective sport. He told us whether he thinks it’s completely necessary or not. This and more throughout the entire show today.
