John Sutherland joined the Met Police in 1992 after receiving the baton of honour, presented to the outstanding student during an officer’s basic training. He quickly rose through the ranks and as it says on the back cover of his first book 'Blue', experienced all that is extraordinary about a life in blue: saving lives, finding the lost, comforting the broken and helping taking the dangerous people off the streets.
