Description

"Customary prayer makes one superior to God because it tells God what it wants and usually when it wants it. It sets up the ego because it dares to try to influence God in one’s behalf or in behalf of another. But in the silence of meditation, the prayer is: 'I do not ask You to serve my purpose, to do my will or my wish or my bidding. I am Your servant—do what You will with me. Teach me, feed me, direct me. You are closer to me than breathing. You know my needs, and it is Your good pleasure to give me the kingdom. Therefore I wait upon You. 'In this waiting, a vacuum is created, and the ego is in abeyance. The personal sense of self with its desires, wishes, hopes, and ambitions fades away, and then there is room for that transcendental spark to be kindled. There must be humility, before the Spirit of the Lord can be upon us. So it is that when we pray in secret, realizing our oneness with the Father and that, because of that oneness, all that the Father has is ours by divine inheritance and, therefore, it is our Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom, we then need no longer look to any man for reward, compensation, gratitude, co-operation, or affection. When we understand our relationship with the Father, we learn to mold every thought and deed in accordance with His will.”— The Thunder of Silence by Joel S. GoldsmithBonus Quotes:"-Prayer is not just vocal prayer is a way of involving your whole body and getting it into a certain attitude of receptivity, of seeing.-If you manage to keep aside the assumed importance that you have for yourself, then you are in prayer, you don’t have to say anything.-Meditation means you have understood your limitations, now you just shut up."-Sadhguru A Prayer of Silent Union With God from Franciscanmedia"You may find it rewarding to try this simple prayer exercise:Just sit down and, keeping your back straight but free, begin quieting your mind and your body by taking a few relaxing, deep breaths. Close your eyes if you wish. Center your awareness on the silent and infinite presence of God within your heart.Let the Spirit lead you beyond the noisy world of space and time and into the silent realm where God dwells as the source and ground of your being. Center your attention on that hushed point within you where the human touches the divine, where the branch (you) intersects with Jesus, the vine—where you and God are one and dwell in each other.Let yourself sink into the silent immensity of God. Simply let your prayer be a silent being there with God. Without any need for thoughts and words, exchange quiet love with God for as long as you feel inspired to do so."I Love you, Nik Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/goodmornings)
