The Colorado Avalanche completed a short and sweet two game west coast California trip with a 5-3 win over San Jose. The Avs jumped to a 4-0 lead but the Sharks battled back to pull within one. The Avs found an empty net to put the game away and pick up their 93rd point on the season.
Cale Makar continued his stellar season getting three more points on the night bringing him to 69 on the season. Nathan MacKinnon had a hat trick of assists and Val Nichushkin found the net twice including the empty netter to put the game away.
The Avalanche seem to be one of two teams that could land big trade fish Claude Giroux by Monday. Work is the Panthers have the lead in trading for the veteran, but nobody is counting the Avalanche out. We should find out over the weekend.
