Description

ABOUT THIS EPISODE Alan Veingrad was the not-so-little engine that could. Standing at 6’5” and nearly 300 pounds, he was a raw but high-potential football player relegated to a Division II program for college, then cut by two NFL teams before finally getting his chance as a Green Bay Packer. He eventually went on to win a Super Bowl with the dynastic Dallas Cowboys of the early 1990’s. Along the way, Alan encountered Jews who reached out and cared, and found camaraderie among the small cadre of Jewish NFL players. After retiring, he deepened his Jewish bonds significantly, for the first time engaging in serious Jewish learning, going to Israel and traveling the world to speak about his unique “Jewish in the NFL” experience. More recently, Alan has been working for AIPAC, translating the ethos of coaching and mentorship into a practical program that is training tomorrow’s development leaders within that hallowed organization. His passion and competitive streak remain as powerful as ever.
