Description

The movie so nice, Roger Corman made it twice: Humanoids from the Deep. On this episode we discuss both versions, as well as the graphic novel of the same name. We also talk the controversy between Corman and director, Barbara Peeters. Y'know, when Corman thought the movie wasn't salacious enough, so he went and shot his own clips of increased violence and nudity and put it in the movie over Peeters' objection?
Corman, now 94, has produced over 400 films. He also has helped launch the careers of Joe Dante, James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, James Horner, and Ron Howard.
Creature effects were provided by Rob Bottin. While Bottin was only 17 at the time, this would go on to have a prolific film career working on such movies as The Fog, The Thing, RoboCop, Total Recall, and Se7en.
The score, prepared by James Horner, was fully executed in just 14 days. Horner also did the score for Aliens, Krull, and Cocoon.
The remake was made for Showtime and released 9/14/96, through New Horizons. The film was written and directed by Jeff Yonis. What cheap workaround did they do with this film to keep costs down? Oh, we talk about it for sure.
The comic was written and illustrated by Benjamin Hall in 2010. Fittingly, it was released by Bluewater Productions.
