Today we sit down with Stephen Martinko, Government Affairs Counsel at K&L Gates. K&L Gates is a fully integrated global law firm with lawyers located across five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals. Stephen earned his B.A. in History/Public Policy from Brown University While attending Brown, Stephen interned for Ohio Senator George Voinovich Following graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he landed his first paid job on the Hill working for Congressman Jim Gibbons Stephen continued working on the Hill for Congressman John Porter, and then moved on to the House Republican Conference After a few years, Stephen took a position with Pennsylvania Congressman Bill Shuster, and eventually served as his Chief of Staff Following his time with Rep. Shuster, Stephen moved to Pittsburgh and became the Executive Director of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission Stephen eventually moved back to D.C. and took a job with K&L Gates, where he continues to work today.
