Description

Today we continue our visit with Stateside with an interview with Bob Maurice.  Bob works on state and local issues.  Note to lobbyists - Bob is the point person for lobbyists referrals. Bob began his career working in the Massachusetts state house.  One of Bob’s early jobs was perfect preparation for doing political work – he was an EMT!   Show Notes: What’s the typical starting point at Stateside? ○ A research assistant - they back up the associates. ○ The associates are a grade above research assistant. What kind of experience do you look for when hiring a research assistant? ○ You have to have experience working in a state legislature. Where do people end up after the associate level? ○They will move to management, or they will often head in-house with a client company. Have you seen any changes in lobbying in the past few years? Trends? ○ With inertia at the federal level, people are paying a lot more attention to the states. ○The state attorneys general have also become much more active.   Help us grow! Leave us a rating and review - it's the best way to bring new listeners to the show.  Have a suggestion, or want to chat with Jim?
