Description
Friends we have an amazing guest on the podcast today, the incredible Matt Hammitt! We are talking about facing unmet expectations and how to fight for your relationships- can someone say, that’s real?!
Matt just launched an incredibly moving book called Lead Me: Finding Courage to Fight for your Marriage, Children, and Faith. Our team was so inspired by it and are thankful for Matt’s story and vulnerability.
Matt Hammitt is a singer, songwriter, and speaker. He was the lead singer for the band Sanctus Real from 1996 to 2016. Hammitt is the recipient of three Dove Awards and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards. After leaving the band, Hammitt joined the FamilyLife speaker team as a keynote speaker and performer at marriage and men’s conferences across the U.S., including Kirk Cameron’s Living Room Reset events.
Hammitt and his family have been featured on national television, including ABC News and 700 Club. He has also had articles published on websites including FoxNews.com, FocusOnTheFamily.com and FamilyLifeToday.com. Hammitt lives in Tennessee with his wife, Sarah, and their children.
Also friends, we want to encourage you to pick up Matt’s new book: Lead Me. It is such a seamless read that is also so inspiring.
We believe navigating unmet expectations win dating so real because indeed we should have standards, but too often we have really high, sometimes unrealistic expectations. The difference between the two and what is realistic just can lead to so much disappointment.
The conversation with Matt today is incredibly helpful and inspiring.
Some themes of today’s episode:
-The path to becoming the right person
-How to let go of defensiveness
-How to release expectations
-Fighting for relationships through life’s curveballs
PS. Have you tried therapy or been wanting to try it? We recommend if you’ve ever considered it to try out the incredible Christian based therapy through Faithful Counseling. Not only is it easier to access that traditional offline therapy, but it is also more affordable.
