Film Kid Asks is the podcast by film students for aspiring filmmakers. It centres the conversation around what we want to know going into the industry by digging into the origin stories and experiences of professionals working in film.
Episode twenty-one is a conversation with unit and festival publicist Cynthia Amsden who has worked on projects like Inconvenient Indian, Splice, Frontier, and The Expanse, just to name a few. We discuss her background in journalism and how she got into the industry, at what point a production should start thinking about publicity and marketing, and some of the most important things to create a story around the project, among other things.
