In this podcast, Dr. Berg discussed the overview of cirrhosis, bile, and the microbiome, all of these are involved in bile production. Bile serves as an intestinal detergent that helps with digestion by breaking down fat into smaller particles. The pancreas then comes along by releasing enzymes to breakdown fats even further so it could actually pull in the fat-soluble vitamins, the essential fatty acids, omega 3 fatty acids, and the DHA. He also talks about certain things that can happen that could interfere with bile production. The microbiome helps recycle the bile and it is recycled 4 to 12 times on a given day.

Things that can Interfere with Bile Production:
1. Gallbladder Removed – The gallbladder is supposed to concentrate the bile up to 20x.
2. Not taking enough Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Fat-Soluble Vitamins from your Diet
3. Damaged Liver – Fatty Liver, inflamed liver(hepatitis), Scar tissue (cirrhosis)
4. Microbiome – Not enough bacteria in the gut (small intestine)
