    Morning Dew - Aojie Long

    Chapter 4 Entrapment

    Buzz buzz

The next morning, she woke up before her alarm went off. She checked her phone, which was resting on her nightstand, and saw a message from her boyfriend. She tilted it up and read the message.

    [ 250: Date tonight. 7pm. My place. Don’t forget. ]

Plopping it back onto her nightstand, she rolled over in her bed, not wanting to respond to him. She didn’t want to deal with any aspect of life in that moment, and he was at the bottom of the list. Closing her eyes, she letting herself rest until she heard her alarm go off. Her breath was calm, her mind drifting back to sleep.

A black room. She looked around and saw herself. A reflection? She walked towards it, and saw it walking towards her. As she got closer, she saw blood dripping down her reflections arm. She looked at her own arms, and saw them cut up. Voices began to whisper, the sound spiraling around her.

    Hurt me

    Choke me

    Make me bleed

    Kill me

    I want to die

    Life is suffering

    Slit my wrists

    Jump

    Jump

    Jump you coward!

On the rooftop, she took one step up onto the ledge, gazing down at the street below.

    Buzz buzz

    Buzz buzz

Glancing at her phone—'520.’ It was her ex. Stepping back onto the roof, she walked away from the ledge as she answered the call, placing it to her ear.

    Hello?

    It buzzed against
