    Introduction

Receiving God’s call into ministry can be an exciting time in a person’s life and leaves you with questions about what God requires of you to function in a leadership capacity. Each member in the body of Christ has a calling unique to the purpose and plan God has for their life to serve in ministry to promote the kingdom of God in the earth. With the call, there will always be a degree of uncertainty as to what I should do, where I should be, and to what people group I am called to minister. The call of God for every individual who has been called is unique, but each person is called uniquely.

Whether you have heard the voice of God internally, been the recipient of a prophetic word, been inspired through Holy Scripture, or seen visions in your dreams, as you embark on this journey, you can take comfort in the fact that your divine call will be a powerful motivator. However, the inevitable uncertainty may challenge your acceptance and execution of this call. It's a unique path driven by spiritual passion and hindered by human doubt. Most people who God calls will initially resist because many will feel unworthy of the calling, but God’s divine enablement and protection will eventually cause you to respond fully.

This devotional is therefore designed to help you understand the process of the call of God so that you learn your appropriate role in this preparation for entering into the work of ministry. Carefully and prayerfully study this devotional daily and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you and bring clarity to discovering God’s assignment that He has determined for your life.

    Day 1: Live With Purpose

Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand. - Proverbs 19:21 (AMP)

Whenever I read this verse, it always pulls me back to that place in my life when I lived under a false perception: when the enemy’s wiles blinded me.

Among them, the god of this world [Satan] has blinded the minds of the unbelieving to prevent them from seeing the illuminating light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. - 2 Corinthians 4:4 (AMP)

Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 say that there is a way that seems right to a man, BUT the end thereof is the way of death. I had so many plans in my mind about what I wanted my life to be, and looking back with the understanding of what God has taught me today, I now understand why they never worked out as planned. Although these plans, or devices as the KJV states, were good, they were not according to the purpose for which I was created. My many plans for my life did not include God but were thought out with the world’s pleasures in mind. These plans had no purpose, only an inclination to fulfill my selfish desires.

What was happening throughout my life was that my plans were being overruled by the plan
