    Chapter 1:

    Determined reporter Katie James sat at her desk, her heart racing with anticipation and determination. Today was the day she would begin her investigation into the cold case of Rosie Moore. Rosie had been convicted of murder ten years ago, but Katie had always believed she was innocent. She had spent the last few months pouring over old case files and interviewing anyone who might have information about the case.

    Now, she was finally ready to start her investigation in earnest. Katie picked up the first set of notes she had made on the case and skimmed through them, trying to refresh her memory. Rosie Moore was a young, promising artist who had been found stabbed to death in her studio apartment.  The police had arrested her ex-boyfriend, Jason, and he had confessed to the murder.

    However, Katie had always sensed that there was more to the story. Something didn't add up. She spent the next few hours going through the case files, taking careful notes on each witness statement, interview transcript, and piece of evidence.

    As she worked, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was missing something important. She decided to start by interviewing the key witnesses again, hoping that they might remember something they had left out before.

    Her first interview was with Jason himself. He looked different now, older and more worn out. He still claimed to be innocent, but Katie could see the guilt in his eyes. She asked him about his relationship with Rosie, their fights, and the night of the murder. He gave her the same story he had given ten years ago, but this time, Katie  listened carefully to the nuances in his voice,
