Finding Myself With Jesus: A Poetic Journey From Addiction to Redemption
By Paul Mowery
()
About this ebook
his book is a poetic account of my experiences in the journey of finding and getting to know who I am with Jesus in my heart.
The best gift I have ever received was being court ordered to a faith-based rehab center in Hot Springs, Arkansas called Shalom. It was there that I rededicated myself to the Lord. I began a surrender that I will never end and learned the basic skills to suit up in the armor of God, where all things are possible.
I pray the poems I have written while turning my life around will inspire you. They were written while I was going through real struggles in my mind. Although through my heart I truly believe God inspired the words to help others dealing with the same issues.
Hope restores your belief that with faith, all things are possible through prayer.
Live because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Love because a hardened heart produces a hard life.
Laugh because laughter really is chicken soup for the soul.

About the Author
My (Last) Addiction
Before I started my (last) addiction, I was a financial services representative for MetLife, licensed by the State of Arkansas for life and health insurance. I also carried a series 6 and 63 license with the United States Securities Exchange Commission. I was a charter member and president of the Lake Hamilton Alumni Association and a member at the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce. As president of its education committee, I was the master of ceremonies for a banquet honoring the top 5% of graduating seniors in Garland County. I was also on a local judges junior advisory board, helping juveniles and their parents with their first offenses.
The end of my second marriage sent me down a rabbit hole. I gave up, lost my spirit, and didn't care what happened to me. The world grazed on me for several years, chipping away at everything I had gained my entire life. I didn't care. I retreated to my bedroom and let the world take over everything past that door.
I met my third wife two years into my last addiction. We tried to battle our tendencies but lost after five years. The devil had strongholds on both of us; we never really had a chance. That failure plunged me into a rabbit hole inside the rabbit hole…
I lost everything I had left in the next two years—myself, material things, and what family I had. Not my proudest moments watching my nephew, a Garland County sheriff, raid my house not once, not twice, but
