Creeping Death - Suzanne Cruz Garcia

    Chapter 1

Vampires have been a part of human mythology since ancient times. Lurking in the shadows, they appear unexpectedly, haunting the night. Whether it's a singular figure or a group, they approach silently, embodying fear and intrigue.

In the dark alleys, a young girl ran with utmost innocence. Suddenly, another girl of her tender age appeared and stealthily drew out her glistening blade and beheaded this creature they called Holes.

Great job, but don’t be reckless he said.

The young girl passed by him without uttering a single word. The esteemed elders were met in a session wherein they showed the vexing issue of interminable appearances of Holes. Not only were they threatened by looming werewolf invasions, but they also had to brace themselves for this Holes from Pearl.

The Elders all agreed that they must find where they came from originally. According to the reports, the Holes were last seen at the Surrounding Lands, K Town specifically. This was something they found atrocious and despicable.

A gentleman assigned her a task to journey towards a school nestled in K Town. In addition to that, he equipped her with the necessary attire and accessories to ensure prompt completion of the mission.

Upon arrival, they reached K Town High, where the gentleman disembarked her in front of the institution. The woman went ahead directly to the principal's office and waited there.

You must be Olana? the principal said while looking at her profile.

Olana was quiet about it and just waiting for the introduction to be over.

Land of Ruby, I never really heard anything about that land to be honest, it feels a little creepy the principal uttered.

I will go now to my class she said creepily. The girl got up and left the office. The principal couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, especially with the coldness emanating from her eyes. The principal felt a sense of fear in the girl's presence.

Mr. Reeves recommended that she be polite, saying that the humans were unaware of their identities and purpose. Olana responded by expressing her hatred towards humans, claiming that they were alike.

I believe I can’t do anything with that, just remember don’t be reckless... he said.

Olana appeared unfazed as she strode confidently into the classroom, clutching her schedule tightly in her hand. The other students' curious gazes followed her every move, captivated by her strikingly pale complexion and hauntingly expressive eyes. Despite the intense scrutiny and gossip on her first day, Olana showed no signs of discomfort or concern as she took her place among her classmates to begin the first class of the day.

Olana noticed a boy who was staring at her, along with all the others. She responded by giving him a cold glance and they began to engage in a strange stare-down. He felt as if he was under some sort of spell, as the eerie silence between them lingered.

Uh! What’s with those eyes, staring at me like that, like she was going to eat me or something... he thought.

While Olana could feel the rush in this boy’s blood and saw the blood flowing in his veins. The thing about Olana was that she didn’t get the rush like the others, no, it wasn’t like that. Urges like these from her meant that this boy was somehow special. Something she couldn’t explain but this wasn’t the time to be distracted by trivial things.

That night, the young boy sensed a presence of Holes lurking around the school grounds. He couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something else besides Holes lurking around too - an indescribable force that seemed neither good nor evil, but something in between. The boy's friends were by his side, and then he saw Olana wielding her sword and attacking the Holes, even as more of them approached.

You? What are you doing here? the boy asked?

You can’t be here Rue said while she grasped looking at Olana’s eyes. Those piercing brown eyes shining brightly along the pale moonlight.

This is no place for you.... another said.

Move she said coldly while her eyes widened.

Theo was hesitant to move, prompting Olana to act. She seized him and rotated her sword, bringing it down to slay the Holes. As he saw her, he noticed a shift in her eye color. This sudden change caught him off guard, causing him to pause and reflect on what had just happened.

Wait a minute, her eyes, it was dark brown or deep brown, now it’s...icy blue? he thought.

Surrounded by holes and now with werewolves approaching at a rapid pace, the scent of the brutish dirty dogs as she called them filled the air. Olana could feel them fast approaching.

Olana was seen brandishing her sword in her left hand as Theo took his place behind her. Despite his advice that the situation was beyond her skill level and that she should leave, Olana responded by elbowing him and using him as a weapon during her sword swing. With Werewolves and Holes approaching from all directions, she spun around to defend herself. After dispatching her foes, she grabbed Theo by the collar, flipped him over, and used her sword to pierce the attackers. She then flipped him over again, and Olana sheathed her sword after defeating them all. The young woman's prowess was impressive, as she was able to defeat all her enemies with ease.

Rue and the others were shocked to see how amazing she was. Theo on the other hand was trying to talk to Olana. Theo grabbed her shoulder.

What’s wrong with you? You could have killed me. Hey, talk to me... Theo screamed.

She drew her sword out of instinct to finish Theo, this foolish human who had the audacity to touch her. However, he was saved by the arrival of Celene, who came right in time.

There you are, Oli, calm down a little. Mr. Reeves and the others will take care of this mess you all made Celene remarked.

Mr. Reeves was approaching and inquiring about the commotion. Rue was perplexed too. Mr. Reeves went ahead to lecture her about her recklessness. Olana interjected and informed him that the obstacle was Theo. Upon realizing that they were discussing him, Theo flew into a fit of rage.

Calm down Theo Rue tried to tell him down.

I can’t calm down with her attitude Theo screamed.

Do you have a problem with that? Is it because I killed them or is it because I am a female? she asked.

You’re missing the point, I don’t give a fuck if you are a female, you could have... he stopped himself while Celene was trying to make sure Olana will not kill Theo. Told everyone that they should calm down a little. Celene was smiling at Theo and Rue. Theo sighed and left it at that.

    Chapter 2

Upon Olana's arrival to the classroom that morning, Theo cast a hard stare in her direction, clearly showing his displeasure regarding the events of the previous night. His vexation seemingly stemmed from their prior interaction, which appeared to have left him upset.

What do you want human? She spoke with an air of almost conceited confidence.

Theo got even more mad, thinking why she talked like that. You are just so irritating he replied while he became agitated.

Your opinion doesn’t matter to me, human.

She was staring at him coldly. Rue and the others were telling Theo to calm down when the class started. Rue indicated that this wasn’t worth it and she wasn’t the enemy for now.

Olana pondered upon what happened the previous evening. She was taken aback by the surprising collaboration between werewolves and the Holes which never happened until today. Their goal remained shrouded in mystery, thus leaving her with nothing but speculations to report. Furthermore, the peculiar abilities shown by these humans piqued her curiosity, talking about Theo and his friends. She had never come across individuals possessing such extraordinary powers, let alone one’s adept at defeating both Holes and werewolves.

Whilst having a meal on the roof, they abruptly delved into a discussion about Olana. One individual stated that she was very adept in combat but rather distant and unapproachable, whereas the other considered her to be reticent and pallid. Theo, simply contemplating their past misdeeds, felt himself becoming infuriated.

She is the most annoying person I know he exclaimed while Rue was trying to tell him to calm down once again.

Sato remarked that Theo had never harbored such intense loathing towards anyone except for Olana. Just then, Celene appeared unexpectedly and explained that Olana was not truly the despicable person Theo made her out to be.

It’s just... Celene said when she was interrupted by Olana’s arrival. How long have you been there? asked Celene.

I didn’t even sense her Uri thought.

It doesn’t matter, we are not here to make friends, especially with the likes of him she pointed at Theo who went ballistic.

Don’t be harsh, they are harmless, he is harmless Celene pointed at Theo.

That guy? Don’t make me laugh... Olana replied.

You are the most annoying, most spiteful and most aggravating person I have ever known Theo uttered.

I am glad I am doing my job right she said, looking at Theo right in the eyes which further annoyed him.

Celene stepped in and grabbed Olana away from Theo. She looked back as the sun shone at her. Her eyes turned golden yellow.

What’s with her eyes? he thought.

What do you mean? Princess asked while she looked at Theo.

    He was perplexed by her
