…THE FUTURE
As the Queen Commands
Ariel cradled the swell of her belly as Brasen pulled out a chair for her at the conference table. Jihan and Mehdi sat across from them, Dr. Taigi at the head. The doctor placed three files in front of Ariel as she greeted her. Welcome back, Queen Ariel, King’s Brasen, Mehdi and Jihan. We’re pleased to see you in this capacity.
She gave an approving nod towards Ariel’s pregnancy.
Thank you, Doctor.
Ariel rubbed the top of her stomach. Two, this time. Jihan fathered them. It’s why we’re here, of course. As you know, we’re looking to add a female to our union.
Dr. Taigi reached out, tapping the files. These are the three you requested additional information on. We’ve printed out their bio sheets so that you may keep the file on the female you choose.
She folded her hands together, as she looked to Brasen. We only have twenty-three fully developed women in the program right now. We have an additional seven that we’ve pulled to breed here. There aren’t enough human-hybrid females born to train. We used to breed two here from each class. Now were breeding seven. Frankly, we may have to start breeding ten. It’s my understanding that you have a son who just reached maturity and that he favors Ariel’s genetics?
Brasen smiled, his full green lips parting to reveal flat white teeth. Yes. He just turned eighteen. Jihan fathered him, actually.
He motioned to Ariel’s Galaxian husband.
Jihan beamed. Our son, Ichiro. He’s in the Dean’s office downstairs, registering to serve here. He’s studying to become a doctor. We explained this would be a great place to learn about the repopulation program. That’s the field he’s interested in.
That’s wonderful news. I know they’ll want him to start right away. We need sperm donors, breeders, and can always use a doctor-in-training.
Dr. Taigi motioned to the files again. Can I answer any questions about the candidates you’ve selected? Would you like to observe them? We can perform a physical, or bring them in to talk. Whatever you need.
The four of us agreed on these three.
Mehdi motioned for Ariel to hand over the file, but Ariel wanted to review them again. Ignoring him, she opened each folder. Bea, Kiva, and Claire. They were all redheads. Apparently, her mates favored women who looked just like her. She checked their eye colors, blue, gray, green. Bea and Claire were tall. Kiva had a petite body, like Ariel’s once was. She stroked her belly as she read over the tiny woman’s file. Her health scores were high, her biology a near perfect match.
She needed a female to breed to one of her mates while she was pregnant by another. At first, she’d thought to mate with all of her loves at once and let nature take its course, but that brought her a litter of nine. Albeit that birth had been seventeen years ago, it taught her to only mate to one of her males at a time. With the Galaxian population continuing to decline elsewhere in the galaxy, Brasen finally agreed to adding an additional female.
But which did she choose? Claire was redhaired with green eyes, had nice wide hips and a long torso. Both of which would be good for birth. She flipped back and forth between Claire and Kiva. Kiva’s hips would widen after a birth. But there wasn’t much room in her torso for multiples. Most pregnancies, Ariel had provided two to five offspring. She’d managed as many as nine babies in one delivery. Although, she hoped that never happened again.
Ariel? Can I see the files, please?
Mehdi tugged on the edge of the folder. Ariel released it to him. Hopefully they’d all settle on the same woman and this would go quickly.
Mehdi flipped through them then passed them to Jihan. The Galaxian read through them then passed the files to Brasen. Their alpha didn’t open them. He looked at Dr. Taigi. I believe we’ve each made our decision.
Ariel hadn’t, she was stuck between Kiva and Claire, the third woman, Bea, would be okay too, but she kept going back to the first two.
Can we take two instead?
