About this ebook

In the sleepy town of Crescent Hollow, 12-year-old Amelia "Mia" Hartley's dreams have always been more vivid than those of her peers. But one night, her dreams transport her to a place that feels astonishingly real—a mystical realm where dreams weave the fabric of reality. Here, she meets Liam, Eli, and Sophie, three other children who share her gift and have been summoned by a benevolent force known as the Dream Guardian.

With the guidance of the Dream Guardian, these four children discover they are the chosen Dreamweavers, destined to protect the delicate balance between the dream world and the waking one. But an ancient darkness stirs in the shadows, threatening to unleash nightmares into reality and disrupt the balance forever.

As Mia and her fellow Dreamweavers learn to harness their unique abilities, they embark on a quest to find the Slumbering Key, an artifact with the power to lock away the encroaching darkness. Along the way, they must navigate a labyrinth of dreams, from the deepest fears to the most whimsical fantasies, all while strengthening the bonds of friendship and discovering the inner strength they never knew they had.

In "The Dreamweavers: The Slumbering Key," the first book of an enchanting new series, readers will join Mia, Liam, Eli, and Sophie on an adventure full of wonder, courage, and magic. It is a journey that will take them beyond the realm of sleep, where the only limit is their imagination, and where every dream holds the key to the future of both worlds.

Dreamweaver's The Slumbering Key - June Calva

    Chapter 1: Unusual Dreams

The night in Crescent Hollow was a blanket of quiet, the stars twinkling like distant fireflies. In the small, comfortable bedroom on Elm Street, Amelia Hartley—Mia to her friends—rested peacefully under her pale blue covers. Her chest rose and fell in the steady rhythm of deep sleep, but behind her closed eyelids, a vivid world came to life.

Mia stood in a field of emerald grass that swayed to an unseen breeze, the sky above painted with hues of orange and purple as if the sun were both rising and setting at once. She looked down at her hands and noticed they shimmered with a silvery glow. As she wove them through the air, the sky rippled like a canvas touched by an artist's brush.

Mia! a voice called out, distant yet clear.

She turned, her long brown hair twirling about her, but saw no one. The voice seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere.

Mia! it called again, more urgent this time.

What... who's there? Mia asked, her voice steady despite the flutter in her heart.

The ground beneath her feet began to glow, patterns of light emerging like the roots of a great tree. The light beckoned her to follow, and she did, her bare feet barely touching the soft earth. She came upon a mirror standing alone in the field, its frame adorned with twisting vines and blooming flowers.

Mia peered into the glass, expecting her own reflection, but instead, the mirror rippled and revealed a boy her age with tousled black hair and eyes that seemed to analyze the world around him. He was constructing a magnificent castle out of thin air, his hands moving with precision and confidence.

Who are you? Mia asked, her words echoing into the mirror.

I'm Liam, the boy answered, his focus never leaving his creation.

The image shifted again, and another boy appeared, younger, with curly hair and a mischievous grin. He ran through a corridor of light, laughter bubbling from his lips as he dodged shadows that reached out to him.

And that's Eli, Liam said, as if sensing Mia's curiosity.

Once more, the mirror changed, and this time it was a girl with auburn hair and eyes that held stories yet to be told. She sat under a willow tree, a book in her lap, but the words she read took flight, turning into birds that soared into the sky.

    And Sophie, Liam finished.

The mirror's surface calmed, and Mia's own reflection stared back at her.

Mia Hartley, Dreamweaver, the voice from before announced, resonating with warmth and wisdom.

Dreamweaver? Mia echoed, her brow furrowing.

Yes, Mia, the voice replied. You and the others are chosen. You must find the Slumbering Key before the Nightmares break through. Remember, in the realm of dreams, you are never alone.

The field, the mirror, and the other children faded away as Mia's eyes fluttered open to the familiar sight of her bedroom. The glowing digits of her alarm clock read 3:33 AM. She sat up, her heart still dancing to the rhythm of the dream.

    Mia, honey, are you okay?
