CHAPTER ONE

A DEPARTING FAREWELL

When she fell deeply asleep, with the television on the timer to turn itself off, she dreamt the same dream that haunts her every night.  Emily again dreams of a day when, as the sun was beginning to set, Emily heard a faint knock at the door. Curious, she opened it to find a beautifully wrapped mystery box sitting on the doorstep.  The box was adorned with vibrant ribbons and sparkling glitter, almost as if it were a gift from a magical being.  Emily's heart fluttered with excitement as she carefully untied the ribbons and lifted the lid. Inside, nestled on a cushion of velvet, was the most exquisite diamond bracelet she had ever seen. Its shimmering stones sparkled like stars on a moonlit night, and Emily could hardly believe her eyes.  Aunt Sarah, look! Emily exclaimed, rushing inside their cozy cottage. Someone left this beautiful bracelet for me!  Her aunt's eyes widened with astonishment as she examined the radiant piece of jewelry. Oh, my dear Emily, her aunt whispered, this is no ordinary bracelet. It is a gift meant for someone special. It has the power to unlock a world filled with enchantment, but also with great peril.  Intrigued and eager for adventure, Emily listened intently to her aunt Sarah's words. Her eyes filled with determination, and she made up her mind to embark on a mysterious journey to discover the origins of the bracelet and unlock its secret powers.  Guided by her aunt's wisdom, Emily gathered her belongings and set off through the enchanted forest that surrounded their village. Tall trees towered above her, their leaves whispering secrets as they danced in the gentle breeze.   As Emily ventured deeper into the forest, she stumbled upon a babbling brook that seemed to shimmer with an ethereal light. Mesmerized, she kneeled beside the water and gently touched the bracelet against its surface. In an instant, the brook transformed into a magnificent river, flowing through a magical realm beyond anything Emily had ever imagined.  The sparkling waters beckoned Emily to embark on a journey across the river, and without hesitation, she stepped onto a nearby rock. The river carried her swiftly, transporting her to a land where fairies flitted among flowers, and unicorns roamed freely through meadows of vibrant colors.  Emily wakes shaking and again, She wonders why she has this dream every night.
