Penny Cheerful, 25, athletic, educated and very pretty, her assistant Jake a great young man who can read minds and of course Nessi, her dapper office fairy who always knows everything that's going on.

These three very different characters are at the heart of their investigations at what is now London's best-known and most secretive detective agency.

Penny and Jake are sitting in their office when the phone rang. She answers and hears a panicked voice on the other side of the line.

Penny Cheerful detective agency. How can I help you?

Please, please help me! pleads the voice of a presumably older man. I don't know what's going on, but I think there's something in my house. I'm hearing strange noises and I see shadows moving. I fear for my life!

Penny and Jake exchange a worried look. We'l come and take a look, says Penny firmly. We are on our way.

When they arrive in the house, they immediately feel an eerie atmosphere. It's dark, the furniture is old and dusty. Penny feels her heart quicken as Jake uses his mind-reading ability to look for signs of threat.

They start searching the house when Jake suddenly stops and points to a door.

Over there, he whispered. I sense something behind it.

Penny nods and carefuly opens the door. Inside, they find a room filed with strange artifacts. An altar stands in the center and candles burn on either side. A person wrapped in a black robe kneels in front of it.
