      The temperature hit a hundred degrees thirty minutes earlier, the air saturated with humidity. Jack Brogan had worked through the morning on a busted water line in front of a row of posh condos on Lake Front Drive. Sweat poured off him, and, finally, he stood and peeled away his sopping shirt, mopped his brow with a sleeve, and tossed it aside.
