In the City of Aurora Bay, four young girls - Passion, Violet, Pink, and Foxy - were the laughingstocks of the criminal world. No matter how hard they tried, their plans ended in failure before even getting started.
For months, the girls had attempted to make a name for themselves by undertaking odd jobs and small heists, but things never went as planned. The city's police departments and even organized crime circles started placing bets on how quickly the girls' next harebrained heist would fail.
Passion, Violet, Pink, and Foxy were not criminal masterminds - simply small-time thieves trying to pull off big job’s way out of their league. This left them in comical messes, with everyone laughing at their bungled attempts.
The girls were frustrated but determined to gain respect somehow. They just needed to start smaller, learn from their mistakes, and work together to hone their skills before tackling anything too advanced. With time and experience, they hoped to become competent thieves, even if they'd never be criminal geniuses. For now, they just had to endure the mockery and strive to get better little by little.
Criminal Mischief
––––––––
Pink, a little lower!
Violet dangled like a disgruntled spider, her fingertips just missing the glass case. The Phoenix Stone shimmered inside, a fiery temptation.
Working on it!
Pink bashed the winch with a wrench the size of her forearm. Each clang echoed through the gallery, accompanied by a muttered curse.
You said this thing was fixed!
Violet squawked, swinging slightly. I look like a piñata at a kid's party!
Hush, it adds to your mystique!
I quipped from the command post; my eyes glued to the viewer. Besides, at least they aren't throwing things at you yet.
Passion groaned. Can we please drop the commentary? There's a mini-war happening in the lobby. Smoke grenades, the works!
She hopped from foot to foot, her eyes practically vibrating with anticipation.
I think those were flashbangs, actually,
I retorted, And quit pacing, you're making the screen wobble.
Ugh, fine! Stuck up here anyway.
Violet sighed dramatically. Pink, this winch is your one job right now! Can you manage one?
Pink glared at the tangle of wires. Okay, maybe fixing it involved zip-ties and wishful thinking. And... oh no.
From the viewer, I saw why. Wisps of smoke snaked under the gallery doors. Passion, time to play hero! Forget finesse, just smash and grab!
With a gleeful whoop, Passion sprinted across the polished floor, slid like a baseball player into home plate... right beside the case. Her crowbar hit the glass with a satisfying CRACK.
YES!
The word burst from me, Violet, and Passion simultaneously. Then, as alarms blared in the background, we were back to business.
Get out of there!
I yelled.
A figure dashed through the smoke, and just like that – gone. Vanished with the glinting Phoenix Stone.
A beat of silence. Then, from far below, Pink yelled, Hey, the winch magically started working again!
People in red neon outfits darted through the smoke, red flashlights cutting beams like lasers. The thieves made off with the stone, vanishing like ghosts.
Corinth emerged from the haze, spotted Violet dangling, and cackled. Well, well, Violet – having a swinging time?
Violet's middle finger flashed faster than a neon sign. Bite me, Corinth!
Corinth sauntered up to Passion, a smug grin plastered on her face. She dropped a wad of cash and a shimmering lime pearl necklace into Passion's startled hands. Sorry we beat you to the punch, girl, but hey,
she winked, at least you get a consolation prize.
Gee. How thoughtful,
Passion deadpanned.
Corinth blew her a kiss and bolted just as the loudspeaker blared: Freeze! This is the police!
AI drones buzzed into the gallery.
Hands up!
Officers stormed in; guns drawn. Then – laughter. It seemed recognizing their usual suspects took away all the urgency.
Pamala smirked at Violet, still a disgruntled worm on a broken hook. Nice of you to drop in, Violet.
Shut up and get me down!
Pink whooped. It works! It finally works!
The winch jerked to life. Violet let out a shriek – not of joy, but of impending doom. Then came the thud, and her pained Ouch That Hurts!
From my viewer, I winced. Ten minutes later, the flashing lights painted the museum red as the girls were packed into the paddy wagon. Yeah, Aspen Point's finest wouldn't let this one go quickly. Chief Wayland would be livid.
(We're a joke. I supposed the ringleader of this merry band, and we can't pull off a single clean heist. Something's gotta change.)
Embarrassment
(Humiliation burned hotter than the police car spotlights. As Chief Wayland escorted me from my house, he didn't even need to scold me – the disappointment etched on his face said it all. Passion, Violet, and Pink shuffled out of the paddy wagon, shame
