LEGENDARY DUTCH ARTIST Rembrandt van Rijn is famous worldwide for his dramatic use of light and shadow in group portraits and scenes from well-known biblical narratives. Influenced by notable Italian painters of the Renaissance era, Rembrandt’s masterful brushwork exemplifies the realism of Europe’s Baroque movement in the 17th century and early 18th century and deftly conveys the spectrum of human emotion.
