About this ebook

It was finally time to dig up my real past.

It was either going to be huge disappointment for all of us…or it was going to change my life forever.

*****
Freya Walker is a woman who just wants to disappear from the world. Her mother died during childbirth, leaving her at the mercy of her treacherous, gambler and alcoholic father who loves to abuse her. Her fellow students in high school despise her for no reason and she is often harassed at her work. She would rather end her life than spend another miserable day on this planet. The only thing holding her back is her little brother. But her life is about to change completely as Cameron MacGyver, the schools most popular bad boy and the future Alpha imprints on her.

Suddenly, Freya is sucked into the world of the supernatural where she finds a sense of belonging for the first time in her life. But Freya’s trust has been broken several times and she fears to trust again, let alone love. How can she accept the fact that the boy who had tormented her all through high school was suddenly obsessed with her? Will she give love a chance or will she end up just like her mother, broken and destroyed and six feet under.

The Alpha's Bullied Mate - Anna Kendra

Chapter 49 My Heart Beats for You

    Freya's P.O.V

Blinking my eyes open, I looked around my room in a daze as the last vestiges of sleep left my mind.

I hadn't slept like this in forever. I felt well rested like I hadn't felt in ages and I was loving the sensation until I realized…I hadn't been inside my room when I fell asleep.

With eyes wide in surprise, and a little worried, I sat up in bed and looked around my room, trying to remember how I got here in the first place. But the reason became painstrikenly clear in a few seconds as my eyes met electric blue ones across the room.

You're awake. Cameron got up from the chair he was sitting on and came towards me then, his eyes searching my face for any traces of discomfort. How are you feeling? You've been asleep for almost twelve hours.

Twelve hours? My eyes almost popped out of my head as I looked at the clock on my bedside table and found it reading 11 p.m. Wow… I must have been exhausted.

Your body needs rest to heal. Cameron told me. But it would be better if you stayed indoors for the time being. I don't want you to get sick.

My heart skipped a beat at the concern in his voice. I looked up at him once more to find him still standing at the edge of my bed. A little awkward about what I wanted to say to him next…I scooted over to make room for him. When he still didn't take the seat, I patted the bed next to me, urging him to sit beside me.

    Cameron finally took the seat.

    Cameron…

    I'm sorry.

Startled, I looked up into his eyes once again.

His eyes seemed to be clouded as if he were trying to find a way to express himself and I saw pain in them. A bit hesitantly, he reached out to take my hand in his, holding mine gently and then he held it against his chest.

The warmth of his body flooded my senses almost immediately. I could feel a faint heartbeat through his shirt and it seemed to be faster than any normal human. Then again, he wasn't exactly human now was he? He was a werewolf and they probably had faster heartbeats. What I did find a bit surprising was that his skin was quite warm as well.

Can you hear that? He asked quietly, slowly leaning in closer to me.

I vaguely nodded my head. My own heart was set on overdrive once again and this time it was more from nervousness than anger as my eyes locked with his intense blue ones. It felt like he could gaze right through my soul.

Every time it beats…it's for you.

My breath hitched as I stared into his eyes, trying to figure out what new game he was playing. But there was nothing but sincerity in them. His eyes were filled with hurt, sadness, truth, and something else that I couldn't tell at the moment.

I know that everything I did was wrong and I can't apologize enough for that. I wish I could go back in time and change everything but that's not possible. Cameron sighed. One chance, Freya…please? It's all I'm asking for. Just one chance to make it all better. To make up for every single mistake I made in the past. I promise I will make you forget all the hard times. I will fill your life with so much happiness that you'll forget what being sad even feels like!

He still didn't break eye contact, but his eyes gleamed as if with unshed tears. I quickly averted his eyes and looked down. I felt guilty now even though I didn't have any reason to. No matter what his reasons were, he still hurt me, a lot. But Cameron also wasn't a person to use my emotions against me.

I don't know what to say... I... I swallowed past the lump in my throat. What surprised me was that seeing Cameron in distress hurt me as well. My heart felt heavy with emotions I couldn't name and I think the mating bond that Cameron and I had was responsible for some of them.

    I shouldn't have yelled at you… I finally admitted. I overreacted. I'm s-

No you didn't. Cameron cut me off, squeezing my hand as he let it go. You have every right to be upset over something like a stolen first kiss. If I were in your place then I would've been too. I know a lot of people would think of it as outdated, but our firsts are important to us. And we have every right to dream about how we want them to be.

So from now on, if I hurt you in any way, or if I make you uncomfortable…tell me. He pleaded. Let me know how you're feeling, be it sadness or happiness, anger or regret. I promised to cherish you as my mate but I failed to understand what was important to you. So please, tell me what's in your heart, so I never make such a mistake again.

I nodded my head slightly, looking up at him in astonishment. He visually relaxed as a smile spread over his face.

I had never imagined that someone could be so sweet to me. I had never imagined that someone's simple words could move me so much…but they did. I felt overwhelmed as I heard Cameron speak and I knew that every single word had been laced with sincerity.

I was still worried about what would happen if he had to face rejection from his own pack…from his own friends. But I didn't want to think about those things right now. I just wanted to be next to Cameron for as long as I could.

Do you want to rest? Or do you want me to fetch you some dinner? Cameron asked, reaching out to wipe my cheeks.

I hadn't realized when a single tear had slid down my cheeks, but I wiped my eyes regardless. I'll get dinner. I'm hungry.

Good. Then let's go. Cameron stood up and held his hand out to me. Let's have dinner together.

You haven't had dinner yet? I asked in surprise.

Nope. He returned with a smile. I was waiting for you.

Chapter 50 A Sudden Turn of Events

    Freya's P.O.V

I woke up the next morning, all covered in sweat.

The room was cold enough from the AC…Then how could I be sweating?

That's when I felt a weight on my waist. I almost jumped up in surprise when I saw that Cameron was the one to whom I was sleeping so close.

What the…? I looked under the covers in horror, but thankfully, I was still fully clothed…and so was Cameron. Then what was going on? How did we…?

That's when events from last night came into my mind. Cameron and I had dinner together and then he came into my room so we could have desserts here—ice cream, to be specific. But after we had our ice cream, Cameron and I had talked for a long time about werewolves and mating bonds…until I had fallen asleep. What I hadn't realized…was that Cameron had fallen asleep next to me…while still sitting on the chair next to the bed.

He was still in that same position, half-sitting, half-sleeping on the bed, with his arm on my waist, while he was lying on his other arm as a pillow. It made me feel a tad bit guilty that I hadn't sent him back as soon as we had finished our desserts. Wasn't he uncomfortable sleeping like this?

Cameron? I spoke softly, trying to wake him up. I didn't want to let go or make him leave, but he had school. Wake up…

    No reply.

Cameron? You'll be late for school. I called again but he didn't say anything. I tried to touch his arm but flinched back instantly.

    Shit!

He was burning up, a lot warmer than his ordinary temperature. His breathing was also a lot heavier than normal. This is why I woke up sweating! Cameron was like a furnace next to me!

You have a fever. I said, cautiously touching his face in worry.

But it looked like he was out cold. Was this normal? Didn't it say in TV shows and movies that supernatural beings couldn't get sick? Was that true for real wolves as well? Oh god! What do I do?

Cameron! Cameron wake up! I called him frantically while trying to shake him awake. But he wasn't replying at all.

He stirred a bit after I shook him with more force but even though his eyes opened just a slit, they were unreactive…like he wasn't hearing or seeing anything at all.

Cam! Don't worry you'll be alright! I exclaimed as I saw that he was sweating heavily too.

With much difficulty, I pushed his hand off of me and reached for the cell phone that Sarah had given me and dialled her number. When she didn't answer immediately, I grew restless.

Seven rings later, Sarah finally picked up the phone, sounding breathless. Sorry! I was in the shower. Are you okay?

It's not me, it's Cameron! I told her frantically. He's… I don't know, Sarah! He has a fever! Please…help him!

Calm down, okay. Sarah reassured me. I'll be there in a few.

The line went dead after that and I placed the phone beside me to turn my attention back to Cameron once more.

His fever still hadn't gone down and he was becoming restless. I had no idea what to do with him. I couldn't even feed him any medicine as I didn't know what was happening to him. With him being a wolf, it could very well be something I don't even know of. What should I do? What could I do?

But it was only a few seconds later that I heard a knock on my door before it burst open and Sarah came running in, followed by Malaya.

Sarah! I called out to her in relief. "I don't know what happened! He fell asleep here last night
