Exploring the Uniqueness of Love - Merlin Avalondon
Dogs Will
Marco, an enigmatic man nearing his 60th year, led a life far removed from the conventional. As a Buddhist monk, he traversed the globe, combining his intense meditation sessions, or Zazen, with unusual practicality: he relied on street begging for sustenance and financial support. In the interludes of his spiritual journey, he authored numerous novels, crafting his prose wherever he could find solace. It was during one of his travels to Portugal that his remarkable journey took an unexpected turn.
Portugal’s serene landscapes and patient people struck Marco with awe. The country’s ambiance could have been almost a sanctuary for his meditative practices. However, amidst daily life, there was one disconcerting element that disrupted Marco’s inner peace — countless dogs. These ubiquitous canines, often owned in groups of five or even ten, created constant unrest with their incessant barking, which reverberated day and night. For Marco, the challenge of dealing with these raucous canines became an unexpected aspect of his spiritual journey, testing his patience and resilience.
Portugal’s enchanting beauty and the local populace’s kind-heartedness held Marco captivated, but the relentless barking and occasional dog attacks posed a significant challenge. These canines, it seemed, were unyielding in their vocal fervor, which frequently disrupted Marco’s meditative sessions. As he practiced Zazen on the streets, the ceaseless chorus of barks provided an unusual accompaniment to his spiritual quest.
Amid this unique struggle, Marco continued his itinerant lifestyle. He embarked on a path that took him through Portugal’s picturesque towns and scenic landscapes. As he journeyed further into the heart of the country, he encountered local customs, rich traditions, and a vibrant culture that deeply contrasted with his serene life as a monk.
Marco’s encounters with locals in Portugal varied from heartwarming to perplexing. The Portuguese people’s patience in tolerating the cacophony of barking dogs left an indelible mark on him. It was a testament to their capacity for understanding and acceptance. They maintained a sense of equilibrium even in the face of such daily disruptions.
However, despite this remarkable patience, the constant presence of the dogs continued to challenge Marco’s inner peace. Some of these dogs were not merely noisy but also aggressive. There were instances when they ventured beyond barking and aggressively attacked Marco during his street begging expeditions. The encounters were not only physically taxing but also tested Marco’s emotional and spiritual fortitude.
Amidst the challenges, Marco found solace in his writing. His novels bore the imprints of the diverse experiences and landscapes he encountered during his travels. Each place he visited and every interaction he had found a place within the pages of his books. These literary creations served as both a reflection of his external adventures and an exploration of his inner journey.
As Marco’s travels in Portugal unfolded, he began to perceive the country as a complex tapestry woven with contrasting elements. The serene beauty of its landscapes and the patience of its people existed alongside the incessant dog noise. The duality of Portugal’s allure and its challenges mirrored Marco’s journey — striving to find tranquility amid life’s dissonance.
Marco’s journey as a traveling monk and writer had taken him to many corners of the world, but Portugal held a unique place in his heart. It was a land of mesmerizing contrasts, a place that seemed to embody the very essence of the human experience.
In the quaint coastal town of Faro, Marco found a serene refuge. He would often sit beneath the ancient cork oak trees, their gnarled trunks reaching for the sky, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. In this tranquil setting, he felt a profound connection with nature and the universe. The air was infused with a sense of timelessness as if the past and present coexisted in perfect harmony.
Yet, Portugal was not without its trials. Marco had encountered challenges that tested the core of his beliefs. The bustling streets of Lisbon and the vibrant markets of Porto presented
