As  a  Military  Historian  I  rely  on  a  summary  of  the historical  fact,  I  analyze  and  highlight  the  decisive  factors, before  simulating  hypotheses  what  if…  hypotheses through  a  board  game.  In  the  simulation,  all  possibilities of  the  purpose  of  the  study  are  completed,  when  the  past of  history  is  analyzed  based  on  the  theory  of  the  present and  projected  for  similar  situations  in  the  future.  Since 2010  I  have  published  the  following  series  of  simulations: I.  Historical  Simulation  of  the  Wars  of  the  First  Empires; II.  Historical  Simulation  of  the  Wars  in  Classical  Greece; III.  Historical  Simulation  of  the  Roman  Wars;  IV.  Historical Simulation  of  Wars  in  the  Medieval  Age;  V.  Historical Simulation  of  Wars  in  the  Modern  Age  (1453  to  1774);  VI. Historical  fact:  for  most  of  the  period  from  the  late  10th  century  to the  7th  century  BC,  the  ancient  Near  East  was  dominated  by  the dynamic  military  power  of  Assyria.  At  the  height  of  its  power,  Assyria could  claim  an  empire  that  extended  from  Egypt  in  the  west  to  the borders  of  Iran  in  the  east,  encompassing  for  the  first  time  in  history, in  a  single  domain,  the  entire  Fertile  Crescent.

    Im  3:  Historical  analysis.

Historical  analysis:  the  Assyrian  strategy  sought  to  isolate  and dedicate  itself  to  extinguishing  one  threat  at  a  time;  When  this  was not  possible  because  more  than  one  rebellion  and/or  aggression  had arisen  in  different  territories,  the  counter-offensive  was  more sequential  than  simultaneous.  In  military  strategy,  the  chain  of command  was  simple  and  well-defined,  with  command  falling  directly under  the  king  or  one  of  the  turtan  commanders  of  one  of  the  two main  wings  of  the  army.  Military  operations  also  followed  an uncomplicated  pattern,  with  either  Assyrian  forces  intercepting  enemy forces  on  the  move  or  marching  towards  their  bases,  besieging  them and  drawing  them  into  a  pitched  battle. Historical  simulation:  the  basis  of  this  strategic  simulation  will  be  what it  would  have  been  like  if  there  had  been  a  single  State  Policy  in

Assyria,  as  effectively  occurred  following  the  Sargonid  kings.  In  the end,  it  is  expected  to  achieve  the  maximum  historical  expansion achieved  by  the  Assyrian  Empire,  keeping  it  within  self-sustainable limits,  without  allowing  the  historical  disappearance  to  occur.  We  will play  on  the  side  of  the  Assyrian  Empire,  while  the  actions  of  the  other States  will  be  simulated,  based  on  historical  guidelines.

    Egyptian  Wars,  1560  –  1070  BC.  A  historical simulation

Historical  fact:  the  New  Empire  is  a  time  in  the  history  of  ancient Egypt  that  begins  around  1560  BC  and  ends  in  1070  BC.  It  includes the  18th,  19th,  and  20th  Dynasties,  which  ruled  from  the  capital Thebes.  It  is  an  era  of  prosperity  and  imperialism,  during  which  the pharaohs  ruled  a  territory  from  the  fourth  Nile  cataract  to  the Euphrates  river.  The  archetype  of  the  military  king  was  Thutmose  III (1504  -  1450  BC),  who  through  his  military  campaigns  elevated  the status  of  Egypt  to  the  highest  military  power  in  the  ancient  Middle East,  turning  the  Egyptian  army  into  the  most  formidable  war machine  of  the  time.

    Im  7:  Historical  analysis.

Historical  analysis:  the  most  remarkable  aspect  of  the  Egyptian military  strategy  in  relation  to  the  War  Principle  of  Objective  was  that wars,  when  unleashed  for  lack  of  any  other  strategic  option,  were aimed  almost  exclusively  at  meeting  the  larger  political  objective.  It can  be  said  that  the  Egyptian  Empire  moved,  unlike  the  Assyrian (fixation  on  security),  in  tow  of  its  economic  needs.  In  the  campaigns, the  military  strategy  sought  to  have  alternative  means  of  employing the  military,  using  maritime  transport  to  obtain  and  maintain  a  certain degree  of  campaigning  flexibility.

    [  9  ]

Catalog  of  wars  historical  simulations,  created  by  André  Geraque  Kiffer

Historical  simulation:  the  objective  of  this  military  strategic  simulation will  be  to  see  how  it  would  have  been  possible  for  Egypt,  from  1560 BC  -  after  the  expulsion  of  the  Hyksos  -  to  conquer,  consolidate  and maintain  the  Levant  during  the  18th,  19th  and  20th  Dynasties,  until 1070  BC,  facing  similar  objectives,  those  of  the  Mitanni  and  the Hitites.  Thus,  in  this  book,  the  Egyptian  Empire  will  be  played,  while the  actions  of  the  other  states  will  be  simulated  based  on  historical events.

    Im  8:  Historical  simulation.

Persian  campaigns  in  the  Medes  Wars,  494  -  479 BC.  A  historical  simulation

Historical  fact:  the  Medes  Wars  (494-479  BC)  were  the  first  in  history to  feature  large-scale  naval  operations:  not  only  naval  battles between  squadrons  with  hundreds  of  triremes  on  either  side,  but  also joint  land-sea  operations.  Ships  in  ancient  times  operated  only  in  the relatively  calmer  waters  of  the  seas  and  rivers;  the  oceans  were beyond  their  technical  limits.  Thus,  navies  were  almost  always  used as  auxiliaries  of  the  ground  forces,  essentially  transporting  them

supplies  and  /  or  themselves.  They  rarely  attacked  on  their  own,  and only  occasionally  did  a  decisive  sea  battle  take  place.

Im  9:  Book  and  board  game  covers.

    Im  10:  Historical  fact.

Historical  analysis:  the  Persian  military  strategy  for  the  480  BC campaign  was  probably  to  simply  progress  through  Greece  with  its numerical  superiority.  The  cities  through  which  the  army  passed would  either  submit  or  be  destroyed,  and  this  actually  occurred  in Thessaly,  Loccida,  and  Phocis.  On  the  other  hand,  the  Greek  military strategy  was  probably  to  try  to  halt  the  Persian  advance  as  far  north as  possible,  to  guard  against  expanding  submissions.  In  short,  the Greeks  eventually  won  because,  specifically  at  the  tactical  level  they

avoided  decisive  defeats  by  exploiting  terrain  appropriate  to  their close  hoplite  formations,  at  the  operational  strategic  level  they  took advantage  of  the  mistakes  made  by  the  Persians  (when  and  where) accept  battles)  and  at  the  strategic  level  maintained  their  alliance.

Historical  simulation:  a  strategic  operational  effort  between  land forces  and  sea  forces  will  be  sought  to  keep  the  Greeks  in  doubt  as  to where  the  main  action  is.  Land  movement  is  best  suited  to  meet  the greatest  enemy  resistance,  and  once  it  has  engaged  it  (not  decisively as  it  was  in  the  Thermopylae),  neutralizing  its  ability  to  react  will  allow sea  movement  to  fall  to  the  rear  of  the  Greek  position  and  stand  on the  defensive  tactics,  not  precipitating  an  attack  as  occurred  on Plataea.

Battle  of  Megiddo,  April  1479  BC.  An  Egyptian historical  simulation

Im  13:  Book  and  board  game  covers.

Historical  fact:  the  first  battle  in  history  took  place  in  1479  BC  during a  campaign  by  pharaoh  Tuthmosis  III  (reigned  1479-1425  BC)  near the  Sea  of  Galilee  -  300  km  from  Egypt  -  with  the  tactics  employed  in the  camp  battle  and  the  siege.  capture  of  the  city  of  Megiddo  (near present-day  Haifa  in  northern  Israel).  He  led  an  expeditionary  army  to suppress  a  hostile  alliance  of  princes  from  the  cities  of  Megiddo  and Kadesh,  backed  by  the  Mitanni  Empire. Historical  analysis:  the  operational  strategic  surprise  the  Egyptians gained  in  choosing  the  tactical  direction  considered  less  likely  by  the Canaanites  -  Aruna's  pass  -  and  the  tactical  shock  gained  from  the

    Im  14:  Historical  fact.

Historical  simulation:  the  Egyptian  advantage,  in  the  simulation,  will be  the  principle  of  applied  mass  concentrated  in  a  limited  space  and time  frame,  tending  to  surprise  the  enemy  by  the  violence  and  speed of  lightning.  The  balance  of  the  Egyptian  deployment  will  be  based primarily  on  deep  mutual  support  within  each  zone  of  action  of  the divisions,  provided  by  the  massing  of  means  against  limited  sectors  of the  Canaanite  defensive  front.
