    Chapter: 1

The Source of Love, Grace, and Mercy.

The fundamental tenet of Christianity is love, grace, and mercy. As followers of Christ, we are commanded to love one another as much as Christ loves us, to be kind to those in our community, and to assist those in need. Where do these traits originate, though? Where do love, grace, and mercy come from?

In this chapter, we shall examine God's essence and attributes of love, grace, and mercy. We'll look at some of the most important Bible passages that clarify God's nature and reveal His ways of kindness, love, and mercy for us.

    Love beyond condemnation.

Love that is impervious to judgement describes the depths of God's unwavering love. Beyond condemnation, the idea of love is one of the central themes of the Bible and the basis of the Christian religion. It highlights the idea that God's love is unwavering and beyond whatever judgement or censure we may encounter due to our actions or convictions. This love is freely offered to us and provides us with hope, forgiveness, and redemption.

One of the most powerful examples of this love is found in the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11–32. In this parable, a son demands his inheritance from his father and goes off to squander it on wild living. When he hits rock bottom and returns home, expecting to be condemned and punished, his father runs to him, embraces him, and throws a party in his honor. The father's love for His Son goes beyond any condemnation or judgment, and it offers the son forgiveness, redemption, and a new beginning.

Another example of love beyond condemnation is found in John 8:1–11, where Jesus encounters a woman caught in adultery. The religious leaders brought her to Jesus, hoping to trap him with a question about the law of Moses. However, Jesus responds with compassion and grace, challenging the leaders to examine their own hearts before judging others. He offers the woman forgiveness and encouragement to start anew, demonstrating his love and mercy that go beyond condemnation.

Verse 11 of the text above reads: She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you; go, and sin no more.

A true lover is someone who has seen all your sins and all your wrongdoing and still loves you beyond all that.

No matter how bad or sinful you think you have been, or how bad or sinful people in society see you to be, there is still someone who loves you beyond all that.

They condemn you or see you as someone who is condemned because they do not know you or see beyond your now, but the one who does see beyond your now still has faith in you; he still believes in you, trusts you, and is in love with you beyond condemnation.

He knows you better than all those who have condemned you. He knows you better than your little mind, which has joined others in condemning yourself. This great lover is Jesus.

He is in the business of turning great sinners into great saints. He is a specialist in changing condemned sinners into concrete believers.

Jesus transformed Saul into Paul the Apostle (Acts 9). You may be the next, if only you would respond like Saul.

Jesus said to the woman, "Neither do I condemn you. If you can only turn to Jesus in the same way that the woman they brought him did, he will not reject or condemn you.

Just as they brought her to Jesus, I am bringing you to Jesus, not like them who brought her for condemnation, but I am bringing you to Jesus to introduce you to a lover who loves you beyond condemnation. Do not condemn yourself; you are
