ABOUT THE AUTHOR
INTRODUCTION
I
f you are well-acquainted with the church or have spent a significant amount of time within its walls, you’ve likely come across the phrase, He or she is bleeding on the people.
This expression is often used to characterize a preacher’s motives in their sermons or their style of leadership. It carries a negative connotation, raising questions about both the preacher’s intent and the message they deliver. A bleeding pulpit, by itself, cannot bleed. If there’s blood spilling, it’s a clear sign that the person behind the pulpit is the one experiencing the bleed.
A bleeding pastor begets a bleeding pulpit. When the pulpit is covered in blood, the words that flow from it aren’t pure; they’re tainted with the preacher’s personal struggles and pain. The result? Congregants will leave the church feeling offended, or the preached word will fail to have a meaningful impact on their lives. I was peacefully asleep when the Holy Spirit abruptly roused me and delivered a powerful message: restoration is coming to the church whose pulpit is covered in blood. This book is precisely dedicated to that purpose— restoration. How does one recover from a pastor who is bleeding or a pulpit stained with the weight of their struggles?
